Success Story
“Being in your car or on the street can be very dangerous. If it hadn’t been for this program, I don’t know what situation I would have been in.”
— Ontario Johnson
Mary Ellen’s Hearth’s mission is helping women and children regain independence. Through this program, we help families obtain stability through housing, education, and one-on-one care. Our ultimate goal is to help them transition to an independent and safe environment where mothers and their children are able to live successful, purpose-filled lives.
We serve homeless women and children who have found themselves without proper housing and care as a result of one or more of the following: poverty, domestic violence, addiction, or simply minimal relational or financial resources.
The Montgomery group home provides transitional housing for homeless women and children and offers supportive services to prepare the families to live independently. The staff offers instruction on life skills, financial literacy, parenting, cooking, and nutrition, while providing the basic needs of shelter, food, clothing, medical care, and a spiritual foundation. The families can stay for up to two years, allowing mothers to find employment, save money, and pay off debt.
